Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man O' Mine

Yesterday in good ol' Aggieland, the unthinkable happend-it snowed!! I had heard weather reports early that morning, but I had been scorned before by the 'oh so reliable' central Texas weather station. However, as I was coming out of the beautiful Academic Building, I was greeted by a glorious snow covered Century Tree, Sul' Ross and even a few snow men. My friend Jackie and I immediately squealed and whipped out our camera phones. So fun. Unfortunately, Joe has been in Corpus all week and missed the excitement. As much as I loved stepping out onto my balcony and seeing white cotton balls falling from the sky and STICKING, it made my heart sting a little. My snow playmate and snuggle buddy wasn't here to play with me. After thanking God for the snow, I spent some time just thinking about things I love about Joe. This is my tactic when I'm missing him, because it is much better than moping. So here are a few new mannerisms, habits etc. that I have discovered since being married: -warning, some are little, well, suggestive ;)

When he sleeps, his face looks really smooshed together, and this makes his lips look like he is puckering for a kiss

He sings along with several commercials. My favorite is the commercial for the kitchen faucet you touch- the song goes "your hands can do so many, many things..." cracks me up every time!

After he works out, to dry off he walks around in the buff- this is still weird and I think he does it to get a reaction... it doesn't work

Multiple times a day, we will be sitting on the couch and he will do as follows: run into the bedroom, fall onto the bed as if he has been shot, look up where I can see his head through the doorway, and give me the eyebrows raised, very toothy open-mouth smile

He speaks in Asian and Russian accents ALL THE TIME

He breaks out into 'A Whole New World' from Aladdin often

He will suddenly pull up my shirt slightly and give me a sherbet and then proceed to tickle me mercilessly

He makes me laugh- this isn't new, but always worth mentioning

and finally- I'm going to try and put it tastefully

On the rare occasion he wakes up before I do, he nudges me suggestively. He is really just being funny, and it is. I can just hear his thought process-"if I'm up, she has to be up too, and why not poke her." I don't know, but I think this is so cute and funny.

I'm sure that Joe is thoroughly embarrassed and I hope I didn't go to far. He really is so wonderful and I can't wait to see him tomorrow.

And Happy Birthday Cameron!! I'm so excited to be your cousin and we love you lots!

Drum Roll please....

Joe and I have finally decided on, without ANY disagreement might I add, a church home. When we were both college students we would attend the Grace Bible college class; however, since Joe is no longer in college, we began visiting different churches in early August. For a while it seemed like we would never find one we both liked, much less loved, and felt drawn too. Our latest was Brazos Fellowship. The first few times we liked it, but weren't ready to make any big commitment. Well, yesterday it just hit both of us. I'm not sure when it happened specifically for Joe, he is usually more subdued in these epiphanies, but for me it was in the bathroom. I can not adequately express how much peace and joy entered my heart. I'm not sure why it was in the bathroom, only that I do some of my best thinking in there. During lunch at Nifa's, mmm green sauce, I just came out and asked Joe if he thought it was the place for us. You can't beat around the bush with him. His answer was a silently mouthed yes, and a very affirmative Joe head nod. We are so excited. Praise the Lord for providing us a body to fellowship, learn and grow with.

The sweet musky smell that is a library

Furthering our immersion into our new home (college station), on Saturday Joe and I got Bryan/College Station library cards. I know that we have both been living here for over two and a half years, but being a college student in Aggieland is much different than being a resident of College Station. I was actually pretty pumped about our outing. Immediately when we walked in we were hit with that smell. You know, the smell of old paper with a mix of air conditioning. It was glorious. If I closed my eyes, it was if I was at the Collier Library signing up for the summer book club with my mom. So many sweet memories began to flood my mind, and I soaked it up. I went to the children's section and looked at a few of the Beverly Cleary Ramona books- favorites of mine as a kid. I went to the young adult section and reconnected with the Joan Lowery Nixon mystery novels that my mom and I would specifically check out for a road trips to Louisiana and Mississippi. Eventually I made my way over to the adult fiction section, and oh was I in heaven. I could have taken at least five home, but my wise husband reminded me of my tendency to not return things on time. A little reluctantly, I limited myself to two . I believe this a beautiful rebirth of library visits.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have never been so excited about Valentine's Day before. Of course this one is very special and different, but I got Joe the best gift I have ever gotten him. It has nothing to do with VD and I think he will be pleased about that. We don't have big plans for today, just church and being at home together. I am excited about a whole day with the purpose of loving on one another.
Happy Valentine's Day to our friends and family. We are so blessed to have you in our lives.

One Month and Counting...

Today Joe and I have been married for one month. In one way I can't believe it, and in another it seems like our wedding day was a long time ago. I feel like so much has happened since then. When I think back to our wedding day much of it is still a blur, yet I have some very vivid memories. I remember sitting at the dining room table that morning and being VERY nervous. I could barely speak and honestly didn't want to hear any one else. I texted Joe just to say hello and his sweet reply was "Good morning my bride" and I just loved that. I was so excited to be his bride. All of the girls had breakfast together at Andre's and at that point I was still feeling a bit overwhelmed. I went to the restroom for the countless time and my dear cousin Melissa followed me and we shared some tears and prayers in the potty. My mom and I went from their to get our makeup and hair done. I was so proud of my mom for doing something for herself. She puts everyone, I mean everyone, before herself and she looked fabulous that day. After I started getting my makeup on I started to get really excited. The day was just so fun! Can we do it again? My daddy and I had some special time to ourselves right before we came in, and our time walking down the isle, which is kinda long from the second floor, was very special. I have a very vivid memory of that. The ceremony was beautiful, and thankfully I remember most of it. At the end of it I was just so relived to finally be Mrs. Joseph Weinberger. God works all for His glory, and I'm clinging to that promise. We managed to make it to the reception and that was wonderful, as well as the conclusion to the evening. Ohh, I could just go on and on. It really was great, and at this point, (most of the time) I would not change a thing. It was the happiest day of my life. Our married life thus far has been pretty much rainbows and butterflies, with the exception of two 'discussions.' Just so fun. The Lord is doing so much in both of our hearts and it is amazing the changes that are happening individually and as a couple.
