The Days We'll Talk About

For most of my life I remember my family talking about all the fun things they did when I was a baby or before I was born. I always thought "Hey! Why'd all the fun stop when I came along?" Of course now I'm older and understand why such activities are not as easy to pull off with an elementary aged kid. I also hope to beat that and continue vacationing etc. when the time comes for us. But- I know that these are the days we will talk about. This past weekend we went to a lake house with Joe's whole family and next weekend we are heading to a river house as a whole family. It's a real blessing to get to spend so much time together, and I'm way more appreciative of it with our upcoming move in October. I thought about my future husband A LOT growing up, but I don't think I ever thought about my future in-laws or extended family. Well- I have to say I think I hit the jack pot.

Another highlight of this weekend was spending Friday with my cousin Peter's family. As I've mentioned before I didn't have siblings growing up, so my cousins pretty much fulfilled that role in my life.

First Day of Summer

Happy first day of summer, lovelies!

There is no day during the year quite like the first day of summer. Those summer nights still feel endless, and all of the fun things that are going to happen fill you with anticipation.

We had a great weekend at the lake with Joe's family. Post to come!

A Word from Rémy

Hello Blogging World,

I thought I would stop by and see what all the fuss is about. I've been having a bit of a rough week here in SA. A stomach bug has made itself comfortable in my tummy, and to top it all off I have a pimple. It seems I'm going through puberty or something awful like that. To get through it, I've been enjoying lots of snuggle and play time with momma and daddy. Hope your weekend was better than mine. Only four days till momma is on summer vacation, and I have her all to myself.

What I've Been Baking

{Lemon Cake with Sweet Tea Meringue Icing}

I made this darling cake a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned it here. If you would like the recipe, go here. It was like summer in a cake. I highly suggest it!

Praise the Lord almighty this is the last week of school. Five days from now it will be SUMMER!! On Friday we are heading to Dallas to see my cousins play in their last t-ball game, and then on to Gainesville to Joe's aunt and uncle's lake house. I can hardly wait! I also can't wait to decide what I'm going to bake... I'm thinking Caramel filled cupcakes with Salted Caramel buttercream. We shall see.

Weekend with Friends

Joe and I had a lovely weekend with our friends, Dan and Amy this past weekend. Dan and Joe have known eachother most of their lives, and were college roommates. We got married four weeks apart, and it is so fun to be able to be at the same place in life. We showed off some of our favorite San Antonio spots, and enjoyed being a foursome.

The Next Level

{Lemon chiffon cake, with a sweet tea meringue icing}

I'm sure I've mentioned this before on the blog, but when Joe and I got married I decided I would be the baker. He already had the chef hat, and honestly he's really awesome at it. But so I still felt a bit domestic- I began a long journey of learning to bake. There have been ups and downs, but last night I was a totally different baker. Believe me it has been a long time coming. I tried an off the wall recipe, held myself with total confidence, and (in my not so humble opinion apparently) totally succeeded. It's a beautiful thing. All day I felt like I could conquer the world- the world of baking that is.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dating Anniversary

I never posted on April 22nd acknowledging our seven year 'dating' anniversary. We didn't really celebrate, but Joe at least said 'Happy Anniversary' when he woke up at the morning.

When I was still in high school, and Joe in College he made me the sweetest mix CD with him singing the song "All These Things". I would give just about anything to still have it, but I don't. Not that he would ever in a million years allow me to post it here, so we will have to settle for Stephan Speaks.
