Last Few...

...pictures from our weekend with Holly. Sunday we shared our favorite neighborhood with Holly, Capitol Hill. Our first stop was Sweetgreen. It was only 11:30 in the morning, so we just stuck with Lemonade. After our drink stop we headed over to Eastern Market, which has to be one of my FAVORITE places in DC. Saturday is a busier day with more vendors, but it was nice to see it less populated. I finally got a bubble necklace (from one of the vendors) and I can't.wait.to wear.it.
As I mentioned in this post, my wardrobe choice wasn't the most practical, and I was pretty much dying to get inside after about an hour. Luckily one of the best brunch spots in DC, Boxcar Tavern, is across the street. We were able to get a cozy booth and warm up with a Bloody Mary. You will not find a better pancake. Seriously.

Today we are finally getting our snowstorm. We'll see how "big" it will actually turn out to be, but it's nice to have a day at home snuggling with my favorite guys, while watching big fat snowflakes fall.

A few...

...iPhone pics from our weekend.

We had such a ridiculously fun weekend with Holly. We saw some classic Washington sights, ate some great food, and acted our age a bit and bar hopped. Now- it's not a surprise that Joe and I don't really go out like most twenty somethings. So when Joe said we were going out to bars on Friday, my first thought was "WHAT DO I WEAR??"Then it was "water, water, must remember to drink water." At about 11:30 friday evening, (What!? I am always asleep at this time on Friday!) we headed to the Adams Morgan neighborhood. We went to a packed three story bar, that if God forbid, had a fire we would definitely die. Buzz kill? Sorry. It was rough around the edges and well I was not dressed like most people. I had on a white & black dress, tory burch boots, quaffed hair, and my read overcoat- maybe a tad overdressed. I stood there with my Blue Moon and bounced my head, with a big goofy grin on my face (according to Joe). All weekend he imitated me and my version of "Gangnam style".
At about 1:30 it was time for the old married couple to go home. When we got to the metro station we realized they were doing major track work, and we would have to get off three stops before home and take a bus. Great. By our first transfer (and the first 17 minute delay) I realized I really should have gone to the bathroom at the bar, no matter how disgusting it was. Let the leg crossing begin. It didn't take long for a full on "I am going to die if I don't go SOON!" thought process to begin. We finally made it to the bus and I was near tears. You can imagine who was on the bus with us (at 2:45 by the time we got there) and what their state was. I wanted to stab myself in the eye. I was beginning to prepare myself to have an accident when we  finally got to our stop, and I took off. I mean, full on sprint for my life. By the grace of God I made it to my bathroom. Lesson Learned? If you are taking the metro, GO AT THE BAR!
As you can see, on Saturday we paid POV and Shake Shack a visit. Both of which were fantastic.

I have a few more pictures to share later. It seems that tomorrow may be a snow day for us. Here's hoping, praying, crossing our fingers, etc. Have a fantastic Tuesday.

Food & Family

Here are some more pictures from our weekend with Terry & Maren. When the Weinberger women are in town the main event is always food. I'm totally good with that. We enjoyed dinner on Saturday at Good Stuff Eatery and brunch on Sunday at our favorite, Oyamel. If you are in the area run to these restaurants. You will not be disappointed.

Sunday was a super cold & super windy day. A trip to DC really is not complete without a walk down the mall, so we bundled up and made the best of it. We also made a stop at POV at the W, it was just a little too chilly to enjoy though. Perhaps in the spring we will have a better go of it. We so enjoyed having these ladies for the weekend, and having guests always reminds me how much I love where I live.

Hey- tomorrow is Friday! We're almost there.

Virginia Wine Country

As I mentioned here , we enjoyed a wintery day at Paradise Springs Winery on Saturday. The tasting room itself is very open and felt as if you were at ski lodge. The tasting bar was small and very crowded, we luckily missed the crowd and were able to get a spot where we all fit (sorta). After our tasting we enjoyed a bottle on the terrace on plush couches and a warm fire. It was pretty perfect. If this is your thing and you live, or are visiting the DC area I highly suggest Paradise Springs. It was only about 45 minutes away, and the drive itself was relatively scenic.

More pictures from Maren & Terry's visit coming soon. If you had a long weekend, it's already Tuesday! Only three days till Friday.

Decking the Halls

Our little row house is all decked in holiday style. This first christmas (season) in our new home has already been so precious and full of family. My M-I-L Terry visited for a long weekend and we had so much fun visiting the National Botanical Gardens, shopping in Georgetown, and spending quality time together.

The time always passes too quickly when we are together. I hope I say enough how much I value and appreciate the relationship I have with my in-laws. We all know people who are not as lucky, and not only do I love my M-I-L like the second mom she is, she is also one of my dearest friends.
