Where We're Going

I'm really not very good at keeping secrets. I get so excited I feel it bubbling at my mouth (or in this case fingertips) and I can't stand it. I have been keeping a secret since January that I have been dying to tell you.
This will be my last post on {jeweinberger.blogspot.com} as you see it.
Tomorrow we are launching our new site,

Ellie Joy.

It has been a long time coming, and I'm so excited that I'm finally taking that next step in blogging.
This blog began as a way to document and share what was going on in our daily {married} lives. Our new site will continue to do that, but I will also be sharing more recipes and fashion posts.
We will see where it goes. Please don't stop reading, our blog will only get better, and invite your friends!

More info on the name tomorrow.

Until then.

She Bakes: Chocolate {Tofu} Mousse

Chocolate mousse has to be one of my favorite desserts. It is so simple & light, and so very delicious; however, like most desserts it is not the most healthy snack.
During our weekly Trader Joe's trip, Joe tried a sample of Chocolate Mousse made with silken tofu, and determined we had to make it!

Ingredients:

{2} 11 oz packages Silken Tofu
{1} package of Chocolate Chips
{1/4} cup of warmed milk
A pinch of Salt
A pinch of Nutmeg

Method:

Melt chocolate chips using a double broiler. While you're melting the chocolate, warm the milk.

Using a hand or stand mixer, combine melted chocolate and milk with the tofu, salt, & nutmeg. Mix using the whisk attachment until desired consistency is achieved.

Voila. You're done. This is the perfect little sweet treat when you are watching your waistline, but are like me and have. to have. something. sweet.

Enjoy!

Last Few...

...pictures from our weekend with Holly. Sunday we shared our favorite neighborhood with Holly, Capitol Hill. Our first stop was Sweetgreen. It was only 11:30 in the morning, so we just stuck with Lemonade. After our drink stop we headed over to Eastern Market, which has to be one of my FAVORITE places in DC. Saturday is a busier day with more vendors, but it was nice to see it less populated. I finally got a bubble necklace (from one of the vendors) and I can't.wait.to wear.it.
As I mentioned in this post, my wardrobe choice wasn't the most practical, and I was pretty much dying to get inside after about an hour. Luckily one of the best brunch spots in DC, Boxcar Tavern, is across the street. We were able to get a cozy booth and warm up with a Bloody Mary. You will not find a better pancake. Seriously.

Today we are finally getting our snowstorm. We'll see how "big" it will actually turn out to be, but it's nice to have a day at home snuggling with my favorite guys, while watching big fat snowflakes fall.

A few...

...iPhone pics from our weekend.

We had such a ridiculously fun weekend with Holly. We saw some classic Washington sights, ate some great food, and acted our age a bit and bar hopped. Now- it's not a surprise that Joe and I don't really go out like most twenty somethings. So when Joe said we were going out to bars on Friday, my first thought was "WHAT DO I WEAR??"Then it was "water, water, must remember to drink water." At about 11:30 friday evening, (What!? I am always asleep at this time on Friday!) we headed to the Adams Morgan neighborhood. We went to a packed three story bar, that if God forbid, had a fire we would definitely die. Buzz kill? Sorry. It was rough around the edges and well I was not dressed like most people. I had on a white & black dress, tory burch boots, quaffed hair, and my read overcoat- maybe a tad overdressed. I stood there with my Blue Moon and bounced my head, with a big goofy grin on my face (according to Joe). All weekend he imitated me and my version of "Gangnam style".
At about 1:30 it was time for the old married couple to go home. When we got to the metro station we realized they were doing major track work, and we would have to get off three stops before home and take a bus. Great. By our first transfer (and the first 17 minute delay) I realized I really should have gone to the bathroom at the bar, no matter how disgusting it was. Let the leg crossing begin. It didn't take long for a full on "I am going to die if I don't go SOON!" thought process to begin. We finally made it to the bus and I was near tears. You can imagine who was on the bus with us (at 2:45 by the time we got there) and what their state was. I wanted to stab myself in the eye. I was beginning to prepare myself to have an accident when we  finally got to our stop, and I took off. I mean, full on sprint for my life. By the grace of God I made it to my bathroom. Lesson Learned? If you are taking the metro, GO AT THE BAR!
As you can see, on Saturday we paid POV and Shake Shack a visit. Both of which were fantastic.

I have a few more pictures to share later. It seems that tomorrow may be a snow day for us. Here's hoping, praying, crossing our fingers, etc. Have a fantastic Tuesday.

What I Wore: Eastern Market

To cap off our weekend with Joe's cousin Holly, we explored Eastern Market & the Capitol Hill neighborhood. It was a chilly day, but I was really wanting to wear some spring colors and not my (albeit beautiful) red overcoat. Was I a little bit chilly? Yes. But it was worth it!

I went to a friends Stella & Dot party a couple of weekends ago and came away with this coral necklace. I love how simple it is and the way it popped on this mint button down.

Button Down: Anthropologie
Sweater: Anthropologie
Jeans: J. Crew {Similar}
Necklace: Stella & Dot
Shoes: Seychelles

I have so many fun pictures (& stories) to share with you from our weekend. Until next time!

Happy Monday!

Wish List

Happy March! Spring is coming, and with it pastel greens, pinks, oranges, and purples. I can hardly wait.

Okay, so maybe I am dreaming of spring just a little bit. I'm on a huge necklace kick, and can't seem to get enough of them; but, it's good to be well rounded so I threw in a bracelet and earrings for good measure.
