Surprise!

My dear co-workers threw me a surprise going away party on Monday. As you can see it was all Texas themed. Tuesday was my last day, but I don't think it has hit me that I won't be seeing them everyday. They have become some of my dearest friends and I feel so blessed to have worked with them.

Our House...

...in the middle of... two other row houses. We've officially signed the lease for our home in Alexandria. It's a little smaller than we had hoped, but it has: two bedrooms, a finished basement, beautiful original hardwoods, a back yard, and a dishwasher. What more could we want really? It also has the perfect price tag. Oh, did I mention it's a block from the metro and five from Trader Joe's? Perfect.

For various reasons Joe has to travel back to SA for a bit after we move. While this is not ideal, I'm clinging to the truth that "He works ALL things for good." I have a peace and am already planning a trip to NYC to visit Joe's sister. God is good.

So- when you come visit us you will have your choice of two sleeping areas and your own bathroom. D.C. hopes to see you soon!

Things I can't get Enough Of

1. Sushi- this is a huge development. There was always something I literally couldn't stand about sushi, some taste I couldn't put my finger on. One day I asked them to roll it with a soy sheet instead of seaweed and voila! It's my new favorite.

2. All food Asian. Again, who am I? Joe is in heaven btw.

3. Girls night with this lovely lady, as well as with some other co-workers. I've decided they're all moving to D.C. with me.

4. Micheladas made with Pearl beer. San Antonio's finest.

An Update

Life in our home has been pretty stressful lately. School is in full swing and I have a classroom full of 7 & 8 year olds that keep me busy. Joe is days away from an offer letter and that has us all a-twitter, but I don't want to say too much and spoil it. Timing everything correctly (ending our lease, finding something in D.C. etc.) is proving to not be super easy. We are at a stand still until Joe gets the official letter, so that's where we are. We had a great labor day weekend in Gainesville with Joe's family and we are looking forward to spending this weekend with my family in Houston. Busy, busy.  Hope you had a great holiday!

The Cone of Shame

Last Friday we had Rémy neutered. Everything went just fine, and he is most definitely good as new. One of the consequences of being neutered is having to wear the cone of shame for ten days. Poor guy. He's pretty entertaining though. All of these pics are taken the day of the surgery. He was so loopy and sluggish that not even a churro would make him budge.

Our First Happy List

On one of my favorite blogs they have happy lists every once in a while. I really like the idea, and will steal the idea for our blog. It has been a really hard week, and I think it is the perfect time for our first happy list.

September 2011 Happy List:

1. We serve a mighty, sovereign, steadfast God.
2. Joe's parents & Aunt and Uncle are coming into town on Saturday.
3. I get to work with my favorite age group as of late 5th,6th graders this week.
4. I made well over 30 pumpkin chocolate chip cookies yesterday. Hello fall.
5. I get to plan my love's 25th birthday party this week.
6. Rémy has to wear the cone of shame, and it is pretty darn cute!
7. We have highs in the 80s coming our way. (Hopefully)
8.  My lunch for today was already made last night.
9. The khaki corduroy shorts I bought online from Anthro fit beautifully.
10. God is good all the time.

For Funsies

While we were at J's family reunion we let Rémy try his luck at swimming. Frenchies are typically unable to swim, but lo and behold our little guy did the impossible. Actually Rémy really hated it, but like all good moms I made him do it anyway. Enjoy our fun pictures in motion!

The Life of an Aggie Fan

Well today did not hold the win I was hoping for in regards to my Texas Aggies, but last weekend we had a lovely time and win when we visited.

Friday night my parent's met us in College Station for dinner, and then we headed to Midnight Yell.

After midnight yell we took a walk around campus and got some great pictures.
(This pic is not edited in any way) :)

On saturday we shopped, had lunch with our fellow Aggie friends, and of course went to the game.

Sunday we took a tour of our favorite spots on campus with Rémy.

I had all of my music classes in this building.

Under the century tree.
