Wish List: St. Valentine's Day Edition

{ 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 }

With Valentine's day around the corner, here are some things on my heart day wish list. Rather than brave the crowds (and prices) on the 14th we are celebrating this evening at DC Coast, but really J & I should celebrate our love and commitment to each other everyday. Hope you are enjoying your Saturday. We are completing a project in the house that I'm dying to share with you! Soon, soon!

Sunday on King Street

On Sunday Joe and I enjoyed Old Town, took a stroll down to the waterfront, and shopped along King Street. Much to Joe's appreciation we were home in time for the football games. It has been a great and incredibly memorable weekend, and I can't wait to share all of our pictures with you in the next few days. I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and thought a little bit about MLK Jr.

The Sixth Date of Christmas

The Sixth Date of Christmas

On the sixth date of Christmas Joe and I had our own little Christmas morning. Since we traveled to Houston for Christmas this year it didn't make much sense to mail our gifts to each other there, just to have to mail them back. We pretended that it was the morning of December 25th and went all out. Mother Nature even helped out a bit, and sent some pretty hefty snow fall (for this Texan anyway). The snow didn't stick, but we sure enjoyed watching it fall for a few hours. The end of the Christmas season has always been January 1st- so we'll see how many more dates we can squeeze in... something tells me we aren't going to make it.

Our Texas Christmas in IPhone Pics.

We had a beautiful Christmas with our families in Texas. We are still celebrating and I think we're going to try and squeeze in a few more "Dates of Christmas." I hope you had a wonderful holiday with the people you love most!

5th Date of Christmas

The 5th Date of Christmas

On the fifth date of Christmas J&I went for dinner and a show in the city. On the way to dinner we went for a quick stroll to the National Christmas Tree (we were not the only ones who thought to do this Saturday night.) As for the show, we saw the Washington D.C. Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra was wonderful, the easy listening jazz group that accompanied them- not so much. I guess it's just not my thing. Tomorrow we are jetting off to Houston for the Christmas holiday. I'm really looking forward to being in Houston, just wish I could blink my eyes twice and be there. So cue "Leaving on a jet plane..."

The 4th Date of Christmas

The 4th Date of Christmas

On the 4th date of Christmas J&I had brunch at a restaurant we have been dying to try, Virtue Feed & Grain. It's a bit difficult to get a dinner reservation there, so we went at brunch and I'm sure spent half of what we would have at dinner. They even actually have brunch drink specials, which is something hard to come by in this area. The restaurant itself is incredibly cosy and warm, and was decorated beautifully for Christmas. I'm already looking forward to enjoying brunch there again.

It goes without saying that our hearts are broken for the people in Newtown, CT. It is difficult to find words, but to quote our President & Scripture: "May God heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds."Psalm 147:3

The 3rd Date of Christmas

The 3rd Date of Christmas

On the 3rd date of Christmas my true love and I explored Eastern Market and had a yummy lunch at DC-3. I could see this becoming a Saturday ritual for us. There are so many cheap lunch options (and not so cheap) every Saturday could be different. I loved seeing the Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes lined up.  We also made an impromptu stop at the new Hank's Oyster Bar on the Hill, and had some oysters and a Bloody Mary. It was a good day!

Decking the Halls

Our little row house is all decked in holiday style. This first christmas (season) in our new home has already been so precious and full of family. My M-I-L Terry visited for a long weekend and we had so much fun visiting the National Botanical Gardens, shopping in Georgetown, and spending quality time together.

The time always passes too quickly when we are together. I hope I say enough how much I value and appreciate the relationship I have with my in-laws. We all know people who are not as lucky, and not only do I love my M-I-L like the second mom she is, she is also one of my dearest friends.
